Assembly Bill 2579
This bill has extended the deadline for initial SB-721 inspections until January 1, 2026. The bill would also provide that no new inspection is required until January 1, 2026, if the property was inspected within 3 years prior to January 1, 2019, as specified.
THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT APPLY TO SB-326 INSPECTIONS, THE DEADLINE FOR SB-326 INSPECTIONS REMAINS JANUARY 1, 2025
The senate bill 721 Inspection Law requires an inspection of “exterior elevated elements” within all multi-family residential buildings in California that contain three (3) or more dwelling units. The initial inspection deadline has been extended and must be completed no later than January 1, 2026, with subsequent inspections to occur every six (6) years. Copies of all inspection reports shall be maintained in the building owner’s permanent records for not less than two inspection cycles (12 years).
The senate bill 326 inspection law requires an inspection of the "exterior elevated elements" at any buildings containing three or more multifamily dwelling units. The inspections shall be completed no later than January 1, 2025, and then every nine (9) years thereafter. All written reports shall be maintained for two inspection cycles (18 years) as records of the association.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jay and Noah of O'Brien Building Inspections just were the most professional and courteous owner/inspectors to take care of our State and County required SB721 inspection. As a property manager, this inspection was a new experience to go through and both gentlemen walked me through it with patience and simple explanations of what is required. From the first contact, their response to my calls, emails and tons of questions was immediately addressed. Definitely would use their services again.!!
